Change and Take Control

Have you ever felt so unappreciated? Felt so little. This is not the first time it happened to me but definitely this will be the last.

Things have to change and its time to take control of this life. Time to get rid of all the hardship and being controlled by other people.

"It is so unfair!"

"It is so unfair!" they cry out.

Recently I have heard of a few people saying that the company was unfair to them because they did not get what they deserve, in getting their bonus in bulk and not staggered. They even claim that it was unconstitutional and is against the labor code.

Alright, I would agree that the action was somewhat unconventional, for what reason they did that it is all up to us to assume. I myself have my own assumption but would rather keep it to myself so I will not influence others.

What I wanted to blog about was the human behavior of these folks who seemed so affected about it like they were giving the company 100% of their selves in performing their jobs. Like they comply and even exceed the expectations of the company when it comes to following rules and regulations, policies and procedures and what have you. It is not like they will not be getting what is due to them, the company just came up with a program on how they were going to go about doing it. It does not violate any employment policies set forth in the company handbook nor by a government mandate, a new concept just formulated to protect the company’s interest (there I said it hehehe).

I did not say that I agree to the approach but I would agree on the intention to protect the company’s interest. Those who reacted are those who have plans, plans that would affect the company’s interest and its ability to earn so it can support other employees. Those who reacted are those that continuously come to work not for the purpose of helping the company grow. They come to work just for the money, just to be present but never to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. They come to work to spread rumors, go about doing their own business of selling their goods and never for the purpose of helping the company grow.

Saying “It is so unfair” in my opinion should be coming from the company and not these people.

If you were a plant, what kind of plant would you be?...and why?

If you were a plant, what kind of plant would you be?...and why?

I remember this question from the Area Manager who conducted my final interview for the Team Leader post back in one of my previous call center company. I replied "A Cactus". They were obviously a bit surprised with the answer since a Cactus is something that very few people would like to have in their garden, I'm only assuming.

So my two interviewers asked Why a Cactus? So I replied:

A Cactus looks unappealing to many, something that you do not want to approach due to its thorns and spikes. Imagine when you are in the harsh environment of the desert with no food and water and you see a Cactus, you will think twice if this is something worth checking out or just ignore it. If you do check it out and try to cut it in half you will find yourself nourishment that can help you survive and lift up your spirit to overcome the desert.

I am like that. To many people I am someone unapproachable, the “suplado” type and you will hesitate to go near me. In other words, they say I am not personable.

But I can proudly say that when somebody needs my help in the most difficult situations, I will always be there to provide support. I am always there to help. Like a Cactus I can provide nourishment and help ease the difficult time.

I am sure the interviewers like the answer because the I got the position J.

So what about you? What kind of a plant are you?

Teamwork: Working together to achieve the insurmountable

The other day when my daughter and I were taking our afternoon walk, we chanced upon a troop of red ants bringing down a worm hundreds of times larger than them.

The worm was big but it was no match for those feisty little ants working together in putting the worm down and bringing it to their ant hill so everyone can feast. The feast is also for their babies who will soon become worker and troops themselves in the future.

That scene, while not obvious to many showed teamwork at its best. If those little ants can do it with their tiny little brains and heart (I guess, I will research on that), imagine if its us. We who are so powerful and brilliant... yes there are a lot of brilliant minds in this world. Some use it for the good and some do not, if you get what I mean. If it were us, who knows what we can achieve.

I love seeing things like this happening in everyday life which brings out that emotion in you to work with others for the good and achievement of a common goal.

Teamwork really pays off.
